YON Is Open
Announcement · Jun 27, 2026YON (YounndAI Object Notation) is a notation for structured meaning. Each line is a typed record a person can read and a strict parser can act on, in one pass. Structure carries the meaning, not just the data. Data, intent, provenance, and thought, in one stream.
Meaning a machine can read is not a new idea. Linked data held that ground for two decades. RDF (Resource Description Framework) and JSON-LD (JSON for Linked Data) had the promise right. The ceremony was the cost. Triples, contexts, namespaces, graphs you needed a toolchain to see. People stopped reading it, so people stopped writing it.
YON keeps the promise and drops the ceremony. The tag on each line is the explainer. You write the thing once, not the data and then a paragraph about the data. A person reads it. A strict machine parses it.
It is not a transport format. JSON moves values between machines, and it is good at that. YON carries what transport was never built to hold: why, where from, and what for. Say less, get understood better.
It runs in production today. The specification is published with conformance vectors. The toolchain ships on npm: parser, generator, runner, converters, domain schemas, and an AI relay. Test it. Experiment. Read the spec. Read one line, and you already understand it. That was the point.
